Openshift Deployment Engineer

Cognizant is looking for an Openshift Deployment Engineer in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a hybrid position. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, maintaining robust infrastructure solutions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of cloud-based systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, configure and manage OpenShift clusters, including version upgrades, patching and scaling.
  • Deploy, scale, and manage containerized applications on OpenShift using tools like CLI (oc) and OpenShift Console.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments, often integrating with tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions (e.g Prometheus, Grafana) for both Azure/GCP and OpenShift, ensuring high availability and system reliability.
  • Identify, diagnose and resolve complex issues related to the OpenShift platform and containerized applications.
  • Implement security best practices, user access control (RBAC), and security policies within the OpenShift environment.
  • Develop and maintain IaC using tools like Terraform to automate the provisioning and configuration of GCP resources.
  • Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure applications are designed for scalability and adhere to best practices.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and runbooks.
  • Manage the lifecycle of control plane and worker nodes, including upgrades and certificate management.

What you'll need to succeed (required skills):

  • Bachelors degree in computer science information technology or a related field.
  • Possess extensive experience in designing and managing Azure and OpenShift environments.
  • Have a solid understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The salary range for this role is between $77,000 and $91,000 depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. Applicants must be physically located in the US and have valid US work authorization. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship. Applications will be accepted till Oct 2nd 2025.

This position is eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
