Messaging Engineer- Microsoft 365
Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid -3 days in Office)
The Messaging Engineer – Microsoft 365 is responsible for providing advanced operational and technical support for the client's enterprise messaging and collaboration environment.
Key Responsibilities
Messaging Support (Level 3)
- Provide third-level (L3) support for complex messaging incidents and service requests.
- Act as an escalation point for advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Take ownership of incidents through resolution, ensuring timely communication and updates.
End-User Messaging Support
- Troubleshoot advanced Outlook issues across:
- Outlook Desktop
- Outlook on the Web (OWA)
- Mobile clients
- Perform profile rebuilds, OST file repairs, calendar synchronization troubleshooting, and add-in management.
Mailbox & Access Management
- Manage mailbox provisioning, de-provisioning, and enablement for on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online.
- Administer and audit mailbox permissions, including:
- Full Access
- Send As
- Send on Behalf
- Calendar delegation and folder-level permissions
Group Administration
- Create, modify, and maintain Distribution Lists, Security Groups, and Microsoft 365 Groups.
- Manage group ownership, membership, and access controls.
Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor the messaging environment to ensure availability and performance.
- Identify optimization opportunities and support proactive issue prevention.
Documentation
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, including:
- Knowledge articles
- Runbooks
- Playbooks
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience implementing, administering, and supporting Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365 services.
- Strong hands-on experience with Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange environments.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Teams.
- Solid understanding of:
- Windows Server OS
- Active Directory
- DNS, mail routing, load balancing, and TLS
- Experience with M365 implementations and migrations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Customer-service oriented with a proactive and self-directed work style.

The annual salary for this position is between $49,001– $90,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
