L3 Network Engineer

About the role: As a L3 Network Engineer, you will make an impact by being a key driver of secure, resilient, and high-performing network operations. Your deep technical expertise and hands-on support will ensure seamless connectivity across our infrastructure, from diagnosing and resolving complex issues to configuring and maintaining critical devices. You'll help safeguard up time, optimize performance, and enable our workforce to operate at full capacity. You will be a valued member of our Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with our Senior Manager.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide onsite support for network issues, including device configuration, end-user testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with users to gather requirements and assess technical challenges.
  • Monitor and maintain network performance metrics such as bandwidth, latency, uptime, and hardware health.
  • Configure and manage routing protocols including BGP (with Communities), OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • Design and troubleshoot LAN and WAN connectivity.
  • Configure Cisco hardware: ASR/ISR routers, Nexus and Catalyst switches (N5k, N7k, C9200, C9300, C9500), wireless controllers, and access points.
  • Implement Cisco DMVPN, Zscaler Cloud for internet traffic, and Cisco ISE with WLC for EAP-TLS authentication.
  • Support data center operations, including LAN cabling and IDF/MDF room setups.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, changes, and incidents.
  • Collaborate with onsite EUC teams and offshore support to ensure seamless operations.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Beaverton, OR.

What you need to have to be considered:

  • A proven track record of 11+ years as a Network Engineer in enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in routing, switching, and LAN and WAN connectivity design.
  • Hands-on experience configuring Cisco hardware including routers, switches, and wireless systems, and advanced features such as DMVPN, ISE integration, and Zscaler Cloud.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work directly with end users.
  • ITAR compliance.

These will help you stand out:

  • Experience with F5 load balancers, Infoblox, Splunk, Thousand Eyes, and Meraki.
  • Knowledge of data center operating procedures and structured cabling.
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches at advanced levels.
  • Background in integrating Cisco ISE with WLC for authentication protocols
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.
