Data Engineer – Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

As a Data Engineer – Google Cloud Platform (GCP), you will make an impact by designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and solutions that power analytics and data-driven decision-making. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with cloud architects, data scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality data infrastructure.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient ETL/ELT pipelines using GCP services such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer.
  • Develop and orchestrate data workflows using Apache Airflow to support batch and streaming data processes.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to build data marts and models that support advanced analytics and machine learning use cases.
  • Optimize SQL queries and manage relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL) to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Apply DevOps practices including CI/CD and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) to streamline deployment and operations.

Work model:

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Irving, TX. What you need to have to be considered:

  • Proven hands-on experience with GCP services: Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer.
  • Strong expertise in Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and both streaming and batch data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

These will help you stand out:

  • GCP certification (e.g., Professional Data Engineer or Cloud Architect).
  • Experience working in agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices in cloud environments.
  • Exposure to machine learning workflows and integration with data pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous learning.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until October 17, 2025. The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 - $130,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
