Technicien Installation-Service au Lac Mégantic

Nature of the Job

The incumbent performs installation, disconnection, and repair of cable and internet services for customers, while optimizing all opportunities to promote and sell the company’s products and services.

The job holder must always ensure that their work supports the ultimate goal of providing excellent service to the company’s current and potential customer base.

Main Responsibilities

  • Performs installation of equipment required for connecting the distribution network to customer devices. Ensures the proper functioning of existing or installed equipment.
  • Performs installation, disconnection, relocation, removal, or recovery of equipment or devices from subscribers and replaces the service wire when required.
  • Makes efforts to retain customers who express a desire to cancel their subscription or reduce their level of service.
  • Performs pre-wiring and installation of the access box in multi-dwelling units buildings.
  • Informs immediate superior and the Network Management Center (NMC) of the maintenance or repair needs of the distribution network when standards cannot be met.
  • Analyzes problems and performs necessary repairs to the branch or connection system.
  • Performs maintenance or repair work on equipment or accessories as required. When necessary, replaces any defective multi-outlet plate.
  • May be called upon to assist employees assigned to the installation or relocation of main lines or distribution lines and may be called upon to assist in the installation of electronic components associated with them. May be called upon to participate in the preparation of these components in the workshop.
  • Occasionally, may be called upon to assist employees with maintenance, repair, or startup work on main lines, distribution lines, or other components of the infrastructure.
  • Completes or writes certain reports, forms, or other documents related to the work performed.
  • Collects information necessary for estimating installation costs.
  • When required, participates in the training of a new employee.

Requirements

  • Hold one of the following academic requirements:
    • DEC or AEC in electronics, telecommunications, computer science or a related field
    • DES + DEP in electronics, electricity, telecommunications equipment installation, small appliance repair or a related field
    • DES with 5 years of installation-service experience in a telecommunications company

Required Skills

  • You are dedicated to providing the best experience to customers.
  • You must possess a driver’s license.
  • You will need to have great mobility as the job requires frequent travel.
  • You must demonstrate a positive and cordial attitude and a customer service approach that allows you to face challenging situations with integrity.
  • Provides regular work performance.

The workplace is located in Saint-Georges de Beauce, QC. The normal workweek is 37.50 hours distributed from Sunday to Saturday inclusively. Hours must be between 7:30 AM and 9:00 PM from Monday to Friday inclusively and between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

The salary is that of class 1 of the technical service and varies from $25.15 to $39.03.

The job holder reports to the Assistant Director of Technical Operations of the concerned region or any other person determined by the employer.
