Mechanical Design Engineering Intern
To assist mechanical design engineering team in the design, test, and validation of new products.
Essential Functions:
- Read and understand prints & specifications.
- Compare dimensional reports with print dimensions.
- Generate critical dimensional tolerances for various components.
- Input and organize reports in electronic database.
- Perform & setup various functional tests and write formal test reports.
- Drive the flow of information through various functional areas for functional approval.
- Interface with quality, purchasing, and operations for reporting and explanation of results.
- Should be a hands-on person. Must be able to learn to change and balance a tire assembly using a variety of equipment.
- Maintain positive and effective working relationships with all team members.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Must meet the Coats Internship Program Application requirements.
- Pursuit of a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Intern or co-op experience in metal manufacturing; sheet metal is a plus (forming, welding, & assembly).
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems is a plus.
- Working knowledge of CAD software (Pro/E is a plus)
- Must have PC skills and knowledge.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands on mentality.
- Positive, proactive, self-starter and team player.
