Job Title: TASC Training Institute/DWI Services Specialist

Location: On-site

City/State/County: Wilmington, NC-New Hanover

Travel: Some travel required within counties of North Carolina

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm, 40hrs/wk, Full Time

The TASC Training Institute/DWI Services Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Institute's training and certification programs for professionals in the substance use disorder (SUD) and justice systems. This position involves coordinating and conducting training, reviewing instructor applications, and providing technical assistance for web-based reporting systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in the judicial system or substance use field, strong communication skills, and the ability to develop and deliver training programs.

General Duties:

The specialist will assist with various Institute programs, including:

  • TASC Training
  • Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School (ADETS) certification and training
  • Drug Education School (DES) Instructor certification and training
  • E508 and North Carolina Treatment Outcomes Program Performance Systems (NC TOPPS) web applications training and technical assistance

Required Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the judicial system or substance use disorder field
  • Or
  • Associate degree
  • Four (4) years of experience in the judicial system or substance use disorder field

Additional Information:

  • Assist the Director in overseeing and supporting the Institute's programs.
  • Identify and coordinate monthly webinar presenters on justice services and substance use disorders (SUD).
  • Review ADETS and DES Instructor applications to ensure compliance with North Carolina Administrative Code and General Statutes.
  • Conduct pre-certification training for ADETS and Drug Education School instructors.
  • Provide training, guidance, and technical support for the DWI Services E508 and NC TOPPS TASC web programs.
  • Develop and implement online and in-person training programs, including planning and facilitating conferences.
  • A valid driver's license and/or government-issued ID is required. Must have reliable transportation.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of substance use disorders and their connection to the justice-involved population.
  • Understanding of laws, regulations, and policies governing program operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Effective communication skills (phone, written, and in-person).
  • Ability to learn, use, and teach web-based data reporting applications.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training courses and workshops.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to document data and compile reports in a timely manner.
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions, including grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
