This position plans, organizes, directs, and controls radiology and imaging operations, actively participating in service delivery and collaborating with other disciplines in the development of strategic and business plans. The Director promotes and ensures high-quality, customer-focused radiology services across various areas, which may include Diagnostic Radiology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound, MRI (including open and mobile units), as well as enterprise-wide education and quality coordination.
A caregiver in this position works days, from 8:00am—4:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Manage all aspects of Radiology and Imaging services, ensuring staffing, equipment, and resources meet inpatient and outpatient needs.
- Has authority to hire, transfer, discipline, and terminate employees in accordance with organizational policies.
- Select, develop, and counsel staff using sound HR practices to promote retention, diversity, safety, productivity, and quality.
- Encourage open communication and upward feedback among team members.
- Ensure ongoing professional development of self and staff through training, conferences, and continuing education.
- Oversee all accreditation processes and maintain compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission).
- Coordinate and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance program.
- Review and improve systems, processes, and procedures for quality service delivery.
- Implement a performance improvement approach focused on employee empowerment, customer satisfaction, data-driven management, and error prevention.
- Identify internal and external customers, evaluate needs, and adjust services accordingly.
- Measure customer satisfaction and implement improvements based on feedback.
- Develop tools to communicate changes, updates, and results with stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets, staffing projections, and space planning.
- Analyze costs and recommend fees or process changes as needed.
- Participate in long-range planning for revenue growth, staffing, and service expansion.
- Perform technologist duties as needed to maintain clinical skills and support patient care.
- Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Hospital Administration, Allied Health or a related field
- Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
- Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(ARRT), in good standing; specific credential dependent on modality or may also be credentialed as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, RDMS, through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board: C.N.M.T. dependent on modality
- Current state licensure required prior to employment, dependent on modality
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- 7 years of progressive healthcare service operations experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- In addition, requires 5 years of related managerial experience
- Experience should include preparing schedules, administering evaluations/corrective actions, interviewing, budgets and evaluating equipment
- Proven positive relationship building with physicians, nursing and top leadership
- Proven success in business planning and financial management

Physical Requirements:
- Requires high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer.
- Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing and the ability to verbally communicate.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be available for after-hours support by pager and computer.
- Must be able to function in a stressful environment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
