Lead Software Engineer (Python)
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (Python) to join our Academic & Government - Artificial Intelligence (AGAI) Team in Bangalore. If you're a seasoned Python developer with experience in API development, search and database technologies, and a strong interest and/or experience in AI, we'd love to speak with you.
About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments
- Minimum 6 years of backend (Python) or full-stack software engineering experience
- Strong experience in REST API design development, preferably with FastAPI or Flask
- Hands on experience of SQL and relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, or similar with a track record in designing database schemas and architecting scalable data models
- Experience integrating external APIs, for example OpenAI API or similar model APIs
- Experience with cloud services, preferably AWS
- Experience with search platforms such as Apache Solr, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar
It Would Be Great If You Also Had
- Experience with vector databases such as Weaviate, Pinecone, pgvector, Milvus
- Experience with Hugging face, Sentence transformers and/or Scikit learn.
- Experience implementing RBAC and authentication/authorization flows
- Experience with Java or another additional language
What Will You Be Doing In This Role?
- Design, build, and maintain backend services for search and content workflows
- Build and support keyword and semantic search capabilities
- Develop FastAPI services and optimize performance
- Integrate LLM APIs, embedding services, and related AI components into production systems
- Work closely with cross functional teams to deliver production-ready features
- Contribute to secure access control, testing, deployment, and operational support
