A Field Customer Service Representative Trainee is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV'S growing success! Please thoroughly review the information and selection process outlined below this announcement.

Internal Notice for Teamster Team Members: This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Utilities department. The internal Teamster eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred and eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the internal Teamster eligibility list. All other team members including part-time/temporary employees along with external candidates may apply for this recruitment. These individuals may be considered after the appropriate recruitment process of the collective bargaining agreement has been followed. If the vacancy is not filled through promotion by a full-time non-probationary Teamster team members, the next opportunity for placement will be to hire qualified part-time/temporary employees and external candidates.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Pay Considerations – The starting hourly pay for this position is $24.55. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
  • Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week) Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm
  • Environment – While performing the essential functions, the team member is primarily exposed to outdoor weather conditions. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and exerting up to a 100 pound of force occasionally to move objects. Performs duties in confined spaces, utilizing departmental safety policies and procedures, and use of gas detection equipment. May be required to wear PPE while performing essential functions.

THE ROLE

Incumbents, under direct supervision, will learn and perform basic and intermediate work in a wide variety of duties, such as: connecting and disconnecting services; installing, programming, maintenance and repair of residential and commercial water meters and meter related parts and software; auditing, investigating, and resolving complaints and/or inquiries; and conducting field investigations of possible violations of City water waste ordinances

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in office or field customer service, landscaping or maintenance work pertaining to water meters. Preference will be given to experience obtained with a utility or a water utility company.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Must acquire and maintain a State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator Certificate Grade I within eighteen (18) months from the date of hire, transfer, promotion, or reclassification. Failure to meet the State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator I Certification within the requirement time frame will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • A State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator in Training Certificate Grade I may be considered an equivalency based on NDEP's requirements.

SELECTION PROCESS

  2. eSkill virtual screening (Weighted 50%, Passing Score 70%)
  3. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 50%, Passing Score 70%)
  4. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy. The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
