Visual Content Specialist
The Visual Content Specialist supports the Communications & Customer Experience / 311 department by bringing the City's stories to life. The Visual Content Specialist develops dynamic multimedia content utilizing video, photography, and graphic formats.
Through creative storytelling and compelling visuals, this role enhances marketing and communication efforts by producing content for the City's social media, print, radio, and cable tv—informing, educating, and inspiring the community about City programs, services, events, and initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Creates high-quality video and photos using a range of professional video and photography equipment.
- Provides turn-key video services to internal city departments from initial concept, storyboards, scripts, video production, post production editing and final deliverables.
- Assists in set up and operation of cameras, lighting equipment, teleprompters, microphones, and other audio equipment; monitors and provides support for special events and meetings.
- Perform video editing and photo retouching to meet brand standards.
- Create digital graphics and animations.
- Organize digital assets for efficient workflow and version control.
- Support creative teams to conceptualize, capture, edit, and deliver engaging content for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and the City's cable and YouTube channels to grow external and internal stakeholder engagement.
- Support A/V team with video production for citywide events and programs.
- Collaborate with city departments to create engaging video to promote city programs and initiatives.
- Adhere to social strategy to ensure content is on-brand and aligns with best practices and platform conventions.
- Update internal event calendar and assist in the scheduling and coordination of department wide events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Radio/Television, Communications, or Journalism.
- Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience in video production and multimedia content creation.
- Licenses: None
- Equivalency (Education and Experience): Associate's degree plus six (6) years of required related experience will fulfill the education and experience requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of modern video production tools, techniques, and technologies, particularly as they apply in educational or instructional settings.
- Proficient in the end-to-end video production process, including planning, shooting, editing, and delivering high-quality visual content.
- Skilled in operating professional video equipment and adhering to industry standards for visual and audio quality.
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to thorough follow-through.
- Capable of evaluating project requirements and delivering creative, practical solutions to meet communication goals.
- Clear and effective written and oral communication.
Salary Range
$27.45 - $32.58 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
