The Payroll and Deferred Compensation Analyst ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with tax and labor regulations, and supports payroll-related systems and reporting; advises employer-sponsored deferred compensation programs (e.g., 401(k), 457(b) plans), providing participant support, managing contributions, and ensuring compliance with IRS and ERISA regulations.
1. Process and verify payroll transactions, including wages, overtime, bonuses, statutory deductions, and garnishments.
2. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws; monitor changes and adjust processes accordingly.
3. Reconcile payroll accounts, resolve discrepancies, and prepare year-end tax reports/forms (e.g., W 2s).
4. Respond to employee and management inquiries; investigate and resolve issues related to payroll.
5. Interface with HR and finance teams to manage new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and system updates.
6. Generate payroll reports for management review, forecasts, and audits.
7. Support payroll system maintenance, testing, upgrades, and continuous process improvements.
8. Funds employee deferred Compensation contributions on every payroll and resolve exceptions.
9. Process participants new shell accounts and maintain changes in participants personal and contact information in the provider's system as needed.
10. Reconcile remittances and resolve discrepancies with payroll and the external administrators' system.
11. Open service requests and resolve notifications from the deferred compensation provider.
12. Respond to participant inquiries about statements, balances, contributions, and ensure accreditation of filings/forms.
13. Assists with testing and system issues.
14. Any other related work as needed or assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or an Economics-related field.
AND
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in reconciling payroll data, resolving discrepancies, and supporting employee inquiries using established payroll systems and procedures.
Experience with payroll software/HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, Kronos).
OR
Equivalencies (Education and Experience)
-High school diploma or GED plus seven (7) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
-An associate degree in any field plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
-A Bachelor's degree or higher in a non-specified field, plus five (5) years of the required experience, will meet the education and experience requirements.
-A master's degree or higher in a specified field, plus one (1) year of the required experience, will meet the education and experience requirements.
