This position is supported by Charlotte Water's Engineering Division-Project Management Support and Pathway to assist with overall project management efficiency and support project controls in Unity Construct. This position can serve as an entry-level position for recent graduates or those with advanced experience and/or degrees that are interested in entering the engineering field.

The pay rate for this position is $31.06/hr. - $34.50/hr. commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare reports or summaries of capital project data, highlighting key insights for Business user groups (Executive Leadership, Division Managers, Project Managers, Inspectors, etc.) and stakeholders.
  • Assist project management teams in analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, or areas for improvement for overall project health and performance in CPMS.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of data entered into systems, ensuring adherence to project controls, policies, and standards.
  • Conduct routine data audits of performance metrics and project information entered into CPMS to identify and correct discrepancies or errors.
  • Serve as a liaison across the business and project management teams to ensure the effective communication, alignment, and fulfillment of system needs.
  • Perform administrative and project data entry support for project management teams in CPMS, as needed.
  • Assist in preparing training materials, manuals, or other documentation to support the use of CPM.
  • Oversee the management of the SharePoint site and support the facilitation of communication channels for both internal and external users.
  • Take and document meeting notes for the monthly Strategy Team meetings; support CPMS Governance Teams.

Minimum Requirements to Perform Work:

  • Associate degree from an accredited school
  • One (1) year of direct work experience in data analytics, process analysis, business, computer science, engineering, or construction management

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:

  • Requires valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General skills in using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • General knowledge of project management and cash flow practices
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in diverse team settings and establish working relationships
  • Solution-oriented
  • Adepts at queries, writing reports, and making presentations
  • Ability to analyze and explore data
  • Creatively produce data graphs and visualizations through reporting and dashboards
  • Skills in oral and written communication

Physical Demands:

The work is sedentary work and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, distinguishing among sounds, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

Conditions of Employment:

The City's Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidates applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check. The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate's written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports. Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
