Job Summary

The Downtown Cleaning Corps Team Lead must be a resident of Baltimore City. Will be responsible for the daily supervision of DCC employees assigned to a designated/specific area. The ideal Team Lead must lead by example, work alongside the crew he/she is assigned and make solid decisions about the desired outcome of the work assigned. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the productivity of the assigned work while providing excellent customer service to the community and DCC team members, while also interacting with the public, business owners, visitors, the homeless community and stakeholders in a professional manner.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts roll calls and ensures team members are in regulated uniform attire daily
  • Relays pertinent information to team members for assigned duties and expectations
  • Completes daily reports that are clear, concise and accurate, with photographic proof of work
  • Works with and alongside employees in assigned areas in an outside environment and fills in when team members are absent
  • Proficient writing and computer skills to relay information to DPOB, MOED and MONSE
  • The ability to work a 7- or 8-hour shift walking/working/standing outside, in all-weather types/elements in assigned areas of the 106-block area of Downtown Baltimore

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School or completion of a GED preferred.

AND

Experience: Previous lead or supervisory work in Housekeeping/EVS. Previous Landscaping or Outside work is a plus. The ideal candidate will have gained valuable management/supervisory skills in a short period of time to further their career path.

OR

Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • The ability to work with and manage minimum 12 employees during a working shift
  • The ability to act as a substitute in the supervisory role when the situation is called for. Ex: completing new employee orientation, conducting in-services, conducting interviews, familiarity with DPOB and the City of Baltimore policies and procedures, etc.
  • Computer skills that are associated with report writing, possibly payroll and email communication.
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Information

Background Check: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed.

Probation: All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-MONTH mandatory probation.
