Summary of position: The part-time Operations Aide position is a dual position responsible for both custodial and event setup duties. Part-time employees will report to an Operation Shift Supervisor who is responsible for the direction of housekeeping and event operations in the Convention Center. The incumbent is responsible for their daily assignment for setup, custodial, or a combination of both, in the public and private section of the facility. Daily assignments and tasks will vary based on event needs. This is a non-exempt position and is considered non-essential.
Essential functions:
Education and experience requirements: Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of a high school diploma AND have one year work experience. One year of experience as a laborer preferred. Experience in hospitality is a plus.
Education accreditation: Applicants' education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Shift examples include 8am to 2pm, 1pm to 7pm and/or 6pm to 12 midnight.
Background check: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a criminal background check and/or fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed.
Probation: All applicants, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
