A Community Aide - Parts Driver position with the Fleet Division in the Department of General Services (DGS), Baltimore City, typically involves transporting automotive parts, supplies, and equipment to and from various locations to support fleet maintenance and repair operations. Below is a general job description.
The Parts Driver is responsible for the timely and efficient delivery and pickup of automotive parts, tools, and supplies necessary for the maintenance and repair of the city's fleet vehicles. The role requires strong time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate Baltimore City and surrounding areas effectively.
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
Education: Have a high school diploma or GED preferred.
And Experience: Have years of experience in delivery driving, automotive parts handling, or a related field is a plus.
Licenses, Registrations and Certificates: Have a valid Maryland class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver's permit with a clean driving record. Provisional driver's licenses are not acceptable. Note: You must upload a copy of your valid driver's license with application at time of applying.
Background Check: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed.
Probation: All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-month mandatory probation.
