Job Overview
The Global Head of Mainframe and Host System Service provides strategic leadership for enterprise-wide mainframe infrastructure (z/OS, z/TPF, z/VM, LinuxOne, Unisys, Tandem, I-Series and Stratus Technologies), storage systems (DS8K, VMAX, TS7700 and FS9K), and middleware (CICS, Websphere, MQ, DB2) and Network Software. This role leads infrastructure strategy, modernization, performance, high availability, budget, and vendor management, ensuring resilient, secure 24/7 operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a multi-year technology roadmap for mainframe hardware (IBM Z) and software (z/OS, z/TPF, z/VM, LinuxOne) to support digital transformation and high-volume transaction processing.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the performance, availability, and capacity planning of z/17 processors and Coupling Facilities, critical storage (DS8K, FlashCopy technologies, FS9K, and TS7700 virtual tape).
- Data Base Manage Systems Manage al large data base estate of mission critical database predominantly DB2.
- Middleware & Performance: Ensure high availability and optimization of middleware, including CICS transaction servers, Websphere and MQ Series messaging.
- Operational Excellence: Lead 24/7 global operations, implementing automation (z/OSMF, System Automation), disaster recovery (BCP), and system security compliance.
- Modernization & Leadership: Drive modernization initiatives, manage the mainframe technology budget, manage vendor relationships (IBM, Broadcom etc), and lead technical teams.
- Risk and Control – Work closely with BISO's and Internal Audit to insure all aspects of Security and Vulnerability management are rigorously managed an reported on. Strong knowledge of SAF RACF and Top Secret Security.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years in mainframe systems management, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role over large-scale, complex z/OS environments.
- Technical Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of z/17 Processors, z Operating systems, Hardware Configuration Management, z/OS, z/VM, LinuxOne, and IBM and Dell storage technologies (DS8K, VMAX TS7700).
- Middleware Knowledge: Extensive experience with IBM DB2, CICS, and MQ.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage global teams, vendor relationships, and budgetary responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in banking, finance, or high-volume transaction industries.
- Experience in hybrid cloud initiatives linking mainframe to public cloud.
