Quality Assurance Systems Sr. Engineer
Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance to develop strategies that provide technical direction and support to the Non-Destructive Inspection program and inspectors that facilitate Quality Assurance principles. The Sr. Quality Assurance Systems Engineer ensures the reliability, safety, and compliance of non-destructive test systems, products, and processes by developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance frameworks. This role bridges engineering and quality disciplines to ensure systems meet organizational, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Develops various industrial and quality engineering problem-solving techniques to evaluate product quality and the recommended strategies and programs
- Integrates subsystems and components into system architecture.
- Conducts technical reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepares and maintains comprehensive engineering documentation, including inspection specifications, test reports, software documentation and technical manuals.
- Addresses customer quality concerns and lead efforts to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Performs risk assessments, including FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Hazard Analysis, to identify and mitigate potential quality or system risks
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of quality procedures, manuals, and records.
- Ensure systems are designed and built to meet customer, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Provide training, qualification, and certification of NDT inspectors
- Designs, implements, and maintains non-destructive test systems and processes aligned with industry standards (e.g., ASNT CP-189, NAS410 etc,) and administration of written and practical examinations
- Development of and providing instructional courses related to specific NDT disciplines
- Development of inspection methods and procedures and interpreting the inspection results
- Approval of written procedures used within the NDT programs
- Designs for inspection procedures at appropriate stages in the manufacturing process
- Troubleshoots and provides technical assistance for equipment problems
Qualifications

- Shall be certified per NAS410, ASNT CP-189, or equivalent as an NDT Level III in the ultrasonic method. Current UT Level II certification will be considered.
- Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, systems engineering, or a related discipline
- Certification in Quality Management Systems (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)).
- Possesses the skills and knowledge to interpret written instructions, codes, specifications, and standards that control NDT methods used by Cirrus Aircraft.
- General knowledge of other NDT methods and product manufacturing and inspection technologies used by Cirrus Aircraft
- Proficient in providing or directing training, examination, and certification of personnel.
- Capable of preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
- Knowledgeable of carbon and fiberglass composite materials, components, fabrication methods, and adhesive bonding processes.
- Shall be capable of selecting methods and techniques for specific inspections.
- Capable of assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff
- Knowledgeable in use quality management methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, ISO).
- Proficient in quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, and 8D problem-solving.
- Knowledge of system integration, validation, and verification techniques.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Knowledgeable in the use of various problem-solving and quality engineering methodologies such as process mapping, failure modes and effects analysis, statistical techniques such as analysis of variance, gage repeatability
- Proficient in the use and application of technical management standards, principles, theories and techniques to provide innovative solutions to assigned tasks
- Able to develop system solutions to solve production issues and improve production processes through the use of software and process engineering.
