Structural Engineer (Mid-Level)

Cimarron is seeking mid-level Structural Engineers to support the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the US Air Force's Sentinel program (GBSD) in Ogden, UT. Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch infrastructure at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital nuclear modernization program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground based leg of the nuclear triad -- the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). We invite you to join our team for this phenomenal opportunity to design the future ground leg of the U.S.'s nuclear deterrent!

This is an on-site position that offers a 9X80 work schedule (i.e., every other Friday off), paid overtime, and a great work/life balance. For candidates not local to the Ogden area, a relocation allowance can be provided.

Cimarron is offering a $5,000 referral bonus for all full-time hires for this opportunity!

Key Duties:

  • Design complex structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
  • Select appropriate structural elements (steel, wood, masonry, concrete) based on load and stress requirements.
  • Develop and check structural engineering deliverables such as calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Prepare or contribute to cost estimates, quantity take-offs, conceptual designs, reports, and proposals.
  • Coordinate structural engineering activities with other disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, and construction teams.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and problem-solving support to junior structural team members and project stakeholders.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver’s license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. If you are unsure whether your ID is Real ID-compliant, please check for the star symbol in the upper portion of your driver’s license or state ID.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • Prior engineering team leadership experience, including supervision of other engineers or designers.
  • Ability to independently perform detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures.
  • Thorough knowledge and application of AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, IBC, and ASCE 7.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or STAAD.Pro.
  • Strong understanding of engineering deliverables—drawings, specifications, material requisitions—and construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly express technical issues.
  • Understanding of work processes across multiple disciplines and departments.
  • Ability to resolve design issues in collaboration with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 9 or more years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years of related experience.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Active security clearance.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
  • Proficiency in Mathcad or similar engineering calculation software.
  • Experience using procurement automation tools.
  • Design experience applying Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
  • Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI MasterFormat specifications or using SpecsIntact.
