Embedded Firmware/Software Engineer

Cimarron is hiring an Embedded Firmware/Software Engineer with experience in controls design and digital signal processing. This position will join the multidisciplined engineering team to design, integrate, and test Advanced Concepts for the DoD in Albuquerque, NM. Concepts being tested could include electro-optical control systems, pointing and tracking controls, high-speed, low-latency DSP systems, and others as defined in the scope of work. This position will develop, integrate, test, and troubleshoot the firmware and software to support the system and subsystem requirements.

Key Duties:

• Support firmware and software research development projects.
• Work in a team environment to develop specifications of firmware and software architecture.
• Research required algorithms and implementation approach.
• Design and validate the implementation of all firmware components.
• Integrate and synthesize firmware for the target platform.
• Develop and maintain software code. Integrate software into a fully functional software system.
• Troubleshoot basic firmware and software issues.
• Develop test procedures and document test results to ensure embedded system requirements are met.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• 3 or more years of experience programming in C, C++, or C#.
• Experience with product management and software development methodology.
• Working knowledge and/or experience in software architecture and software development.
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

• 5 or more years of experience working with FPGA embedded systems.
• Experience with FPGA processors or memory interconnects.
• Experience in embedded software development.
• Hardware integration and software Integration experience.
• Experience using programming languages (ex., VHDL, C++, Java, MATLAB).
• Experience developing code for sensor acquisition and sensor processing.
• Experience with electro-optical systems (ex., EO systems, electro-optics).
• Prior experience as a project lead.
