Overview

The Senior Counsel, Operations supports the Department's functions including contract development, review and negotiation, commercial transactions support, regulatory compliance, process improvements, general legal functions which may include risk management activities, and other duties as designated. The Senior Counsel, Operations directly advises and supports staff in operational areas with regard to contracting and transactional matters. An essential element of all functions will to be to stay up-to-date on applicable laws and regulatory requirements for the areas of responsibility through self-study, and participation and/or attendance in ongoing education or seminars.

Responsibilities

- Assists with drafting, review and negotiation of contracts from all areas of the Hospital and with review of Hospital policies. As designated, provides legal advice and counsel with regard to contract issues.- Assists with review of and advice concerning legal issues involving federal and state regulation of healthcare providers, and other regulatory requirements applicable to CMH.- Assists as directed with other legal issues affecting CMH, provides back up to other CMH counsel on other matters affecting the operations or risk mitigation of the hospital.

Qualifications

- Juris Doctor degree and minimum 5-7 years' experience with experience in healthcare. General practice experience also helpful.- Missouri Law License- Missouri law license required upon hire- Kansas law license preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $78.38/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children's Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
