Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment and facilities within a food manufacturing environment. This position involves a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks on production machinery, including conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, and refrigeration systems.
- Conduct inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure equipment operates efficiently and meets production requirements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly and provide emergency unscheduled troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment during the manufacturing process to prevent disruptions to production.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the production area, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards and food safety regulations.
- Monitor and repair facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, to support a safe and comfortable working environment.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and safe work practices.
- Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment inspections, and inventory management.
- Document equipment repairs, parts replacements, and maintenance procedures to track equipment history and performance.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with production supervisors and operators to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize disruptions to production schedules.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and safety personnel, to address maintenance issues and implement solutions.
- Provide technical assistance and training to production staff on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- Technical school education, preferred.
- 5 years' related experience in industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in an automated food processing plant.
- 5 years' experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting/repairs on PLC, relay logic and logic controllers, 480v, 220v, 110v AC single/three phase and DC systems.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and SCADA systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including motors, drives, and industrial sensors.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to electrical and control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and learn new technologies as needed.
- Ability to perform mechanical repairs that include hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to operate a computer to support and record documentation in our computer maintenance management system.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
- Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment, mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, communicable diseases.
- Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office, warehouse, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis. Also requires the ability to see; hear; and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
