Position Purpose:

Responsible for planning, organizing and supervising care in the Pre-Hospital Services administered on a twenty-four (24) hour basis to meet patient needs to include the supervision of all assigned clinical and non-clinical staff.

Essential Functions:

Collaborates with the medical staff in operationalizing patient services within area of responsibility. Collaborates with Medical Center staff and external customers to minimize and address risk management issues relative to patient care within Pre-Hospital. Collaborates with officials from the Whiteside County Board and Special Service Area Advisory Committee. Provides necessary reporting and budget information for planning purposes. Responsible for the development of objectives for and monitoring actual performance of patient care and patient care satisfaction in the provision of Pre-Hospital care. Conducts public presentations about the department and emergency medical services. Participates in strategic/business planning by effectively identifying goals which reflect those of the department and the Medical Center. Ensures appropriate orientation of staff to work area/procedures prior to allowing independent patient contact. Adapts, monitors, and evaluates the patient care process in the department for compliance with EMS standards of care. Demonstrate ability to work closely with internal and external customers to identify educational needs/programs and facilitate the improvement of patient care on a continuum. Possess functional knowledge of overall Medical Center operation. Delegates appropriate tasks to direct reports and develops staff delegation skills.

Specialized Know-How & Requirements:

  • IL State Paramedic license with a minimum of 7 years' EMS supervisory experience required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's in business, Management, Nursing or Emergency Management preferred.
  • National Incident Management System ICS certifications ICS-800, ICS-700, ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300 and ICS-400.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including Windows based word processing and e-mail.
  • Basic understanding of radio communications and systems.
  • Basic understanding of computer networking, systems, and mobile computing for field EMS operations.
  • Excellent organizational, management, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required. Ability to interact on varying levels with public, physicians, and other Medical Center personnel. Ability/willingness to speak publicly.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. Able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patient group.

Compensation Range: $91,520.00 - $137,280.00
