Job Summary:
The Asset Integrity Engineer, reporting to the Supervisor of Asset Integrity / Chief Inspector, is responsible for managing the Quality Control program and ensuring the long-term reliability and integrity of piping, stationary equipment, and tanks across the plant site. This role oversees engineering, inspection, and repair activities necessary to meet ABSA and CF regulatory requirements. The Asset Integrity Engineer directs personnel performing inspections and repairs, ensuring all activities comply with regulatory standards and company policies. The engineer is also responsible for maintaining accurate inspection records.

Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate leadership and contribute positively to the facility's safety culture through active and constructive participation in EHS safety programs and initiatives.
- Lead and coordinate inspection programs for routine and turnaround maintenance activities in alignment with the Plant Quality Control Program.
- Administer or act in the capacity of Chief Inspector as defined by ABSA and the CFL Pressure Equipment Integrity Manual (PEIM).
- Conduct internal inspections during outages and shutdowns; assess equipment deficiencies and recommend appropriate repairs. Develop detailed repair plans and specifications to ensure safe and compliant restoration of equipment.
- Provide mechanical engineering support for specification deviations, respond to maintenance contractors' RFIs, and assist with engineering consulting, technical QA, and plant startup activities.
- Identify damage mechanisms affecting pressure equipment and select appropriate inspection techniques.
- Provide oversight during major repairs to pressure equipment, pressure piping, and tanks to ensure compliance with code and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with Engineering and Procurement groups to ensure QC program and code requirements are maintained in the design and procurement of equipment and materials.
- Supervise and support in-house and contract inspectors, including preparation and review of inspection scopes, procedures, and specifications.
- Prepare RFQ packages for plant inspection activities.
- Ensure inspection records, integrity assessment reports, and non-destructive testing documentation are maintained in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Perform periodic audits of the Plant QC Program and CF PEIM to ensure the program is functioning as intended. Conduct periodic audits of third-party vendors to ensure they meet all CF and code requirements when providing services or equipment for the plant site.
- Lead root cause analyses and incident investigations.
- Review and approval of ITPs submitted by the maintenance contractor. Review and accept turnover packages.
- Expand technical competency in the areas of process piping, vessels, heat exchangers, and related mechanical equipment; equipment maintenance; and equipment reliability monitoring. Develop technical expertise in the application of ASME Code Sections I, VIII, IX and ANSI B31.1, B31.3 as necessary in the performance of these duties.
- Maintain qualifications necessary to act in the capacity of, or administer the position of, Chief Inspector with competence.
- Provide guidance to ensure the continued development of all subordinates. Administer annual performance appraisals as per company practices.
- Provide mentorship to EITs.
- Administer effective supervisory practices and procedures and maintain general communication with assigned subordinates or contractors.
- Prepare regular reports presenting the results of studies, proposals, and the status of work in progress.
- Maintain ongoing liaison with all plant personnel who share responsibility for the continued success of the Plant Quality Control Program.
- Prepare pressure equipment assessment reports following major inspections and repairs. Enter work requests for issues identified during inspections.
- Demonstrate support, compliance, and participation in corporate and facility EHS policies and goals.
- Drive site asset improvement in the areas of safety, reliability, environmental performance, equipment capability, and efficiency in a team setting.
- Understand and comply with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identify and report internal control deficiencies to department management.
Incumbent Attributes: BSc in Engineering and 6+ years of experience in Maintenance or Asset Integrity in a similar industrial environment. The candidate will ideally have experience in developing and implementing asset integrity programs in an industrial plant environment. The candidate will have experience in facilitation of damage mechanism reviews/assessments and field experience in coordinating and managing inspection and repair activities. The candidate will have their API 510 certification and P. Eng designation.
