Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to implement, monitor and manage infrastructure using various technologies, including Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Veeam and Avamar. Troubleshooting the day-to-day backup failures and working on long pending backup failures. Manage backups of different types of applications like Oracle, SQL, SAP Hana and DB2 Databases.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Installs, implements, maintains, upgrades, and troubleshoots backup solutions.
- Installation of Backup client software on client servers (Windows, Linux, AD) and addition to the backup by creating new backup policy and schedules
- Coordinating with other supporting Teams like Windows, VMware, Azure, Active Directory, SQL and Oracle to get best resolution for backup and restore issues.
- Installs, implements, maintains, upgrades, and troubleshoots client data protection solutions.
- Create Manual reports by last 24hrs backup summary and Alert management.
- Regular Backup Jobs maintenance in the console.
- Expert knowledge in Commvault backup solution
- Configuration, monitoring, administration, and maintenance of backup environment including Backup servers, backup storage, VTL, network configuration and clients.
- Configuration of backup solution on requested servers
- Performing standard and test restores of requested files, folders, databases, and virtual machines.
- Performing disaster recovery tests
- Having at least basic knowledge of Windows and Unix OS administration
- Reporting department KPIs to top management
- Representing Backup & Restore team in cross-department projects.
- Create and update documentation; actively build teams knowledge base.
- Troubleshooting backup issues related to VMs and flat files.
- Troubleshooting backup issues related to IBM DB2, Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases.
- Perform in line with agreed procedures, SLAs, and customers' expectations.
- Compliance with internal regulations and procedures.
- Behaviors and attitudes consistent with the values.
- Create/Update handbooks for end-users to facilitate backup and recovery best practices, including self-service backup administration, to include on-demand backups, and self-restores.
- Monitoring the backup/restore jobs and work on the failures irrespective of the severity.
- Professional skills development by participation in training and constant self-education.
