Fire Door Engineer

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Fire Door Engineer. The Foot Mobile Fire Door Technician will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of fire doors within a diverse portfolio of properties across London. This role involves carrying out reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM), remedial works, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations. The technician will work independently and as part of a team, providing expert technical advice and maintaining high levels of customer service.

Role Summary:

  • Conduct thorough inspections and surveys of fire doors to assess their condition, identify defects, and ensure compliance with relevant fire safety regulations and standards.
  • Accurately record findings, including types of doors, conditions, and any damage or defects, often using specialized software.
  • Provide detailed reports and recommendations for necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fire doors.
  • Perform repairs and upgrades to fire doors in line with test evidence and manufacturer guidelines to ensure compliance.
  • Address issues with critical components such as door closers, hinges, and other hardware.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to recognized industry standards and fire safety legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Be knowledgeable about fire door regulations and testing requirements.
  • Liaise directly with clients, providing excellent customer service and technical advice.
  • Coordinate with approved contractors and internal teams as necessary.
  • Handle urgent and emergency repairs, communicating any delays or issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all company and client health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure materials are stored and transported in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Keep all company-issued tools in safe and working condition.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

Recognized qualification or apprenticeship in carpentry or a related

Proven experience in fire door installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair.

Strong understanding of Health & Safety Regulations.

Full UK Driver's License and willingness to travel across

Highly Desirable:

Qualification in fire door inspection (e.g., FDIS Diploma, Fire Door Inspection Course, or equivalent).

NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection or Carpentry.

3rd party accreditation for fire door installation or repairs (e.g., BRE, BM Trada).

Asbestos Awareness and Manual Handling certifications.

SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification.
