Software Engineering Intern
At Cboe Clear US, we are seeking a motivated and eager software engineering intern to join our development team and assist with various Java development projects, data modeling, and analytics work in the capital markets domain.
Your responsibilities and learning objectives will be:
- Software Development: Assist in the development and enhancement of applications using Java and Spring Boot. Collaborate with senior developers to design and implement clean, scalable, and efficient code.
- Data Analysis & Modeling: Support the team with SQL queries, data extraction, and modeling for financial data analysis. Create and optimize data models for better performance and insights.
- Analytics Support: Assist in the analysis of financial data and the preparation of reports. Work closely with data analysts to gather insights and derive business recommendations.
- Testing & Debugging: Help with writing unit tests and performing quality assurance on existing code to ensure the reliability and scalability of applications.
- Learning & Development: Gain hands-on experience with the technologies used in financial systems. Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and learn from industry experts.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, or a related field and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the internship year.
- Technical Skills:
- Java: Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with Java development.
- Spring Boot: Exposure to Spring Boot or related frameworks is a plus.
- SQL: Ability to write efficient SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation.
- Data Modeling & Analytics: Basic understanding of data structures, relational databases, and experience with basic data analysis and visualization techniques.
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git for version control.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in the capital markets/finance domain.
