We are looking for experienced and dynamic writers who excel at both breaking news and original journalism. You love the craft of writing, and can apply your skills to serve a wide variety of audience needs – be it iterative one-line updates or working through stories that have sensitive editorial or legal considerations. You consume all forms of news and you're excited about the possibilities that digital offers, which includes an integrated text, video and audio experience. You're connected to GTA communities and you want to make sure the stories of the people in those communities are told.
You are a keen observer, focused on reaching new and younger audiences and people in underserved communities through your story pitches, the people you choose to interview, and the techniques you use to present stories. You'll operate independently under the direction of a senior producer. While you're a self-starter, you're joining a team where collaboration and communication are essential, both within your local team and with colleagues across CBC. You're technically adept and if you are not familiar with all of the CBC's tools, you're willing to learn. You understand the importance of video storytelling on all of CBC Toronto's digital platforms, including live streaming and live story pages.
