Your Role

Radio-Canada Île-du-Prince-Édouard is seeking an experienced Reporter/Editor to cover arts and community stories out of our Charlottetown station. Under the supervision of the producer for the Reveil Île-du-Prince-Édouard morning show and reporting to the Senior Manager, News and Programming, for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador, you will focus on capturing and showcasing the vibrant arts and community scene across P.E.I.

You must be a strong self-starter, possess considerable creativity, and demonstrate excellent editorial judgment. You will be expected to find original, compelling stories in the public interest while building meaningful relationships with leaders and members of the Island's French-speaking community. You must be comfortable on radio and writing copy for our digital platforms but may also occasionally file for television and digital video platforms. All work will be governed by CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices.

What You Bring

  • University education (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience filing stories and delivering live hits.
  • Keen interest in people and the arts.
  • Natural ability to connect with people.
  • Strong interviewing, writing, and reporting skills.
  • Understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada's mandate and Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  • Knowledge of social, political, cultural, and economic life in Atlantic Canada.
  • Knowledge of issues facing P.E.I.'s French-speaking community.
  • Excellent command of French (spoken and written) and good knowledge of English (spoken and written).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong news sense, editorial judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Resourcefulness and initiative.
  • Interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines; ability to work well under pressure.
  • Creative, enterprising, and inquisitive approach to chasing stories and interviews.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
