This role requires full time on site presence.

Your role

Do you have a passion for music, radio and audio? Do you have a strong appreciation for homegrown culture, talent and concerts — ranging from the latest releases to classic discoveries? Are you a good leader and always ready to explore new ways of creating content that is distinctive, intelligent and innovative? ICI MUSIQUE is looking for a permanent Producer to join our team.

In addition to bringing extensive knowledge of various musical genres and a keen interest in the local scene, you understand the radio landscape, possess solid leadership skills and have excellent editorial judgment. You are a great collaborator, skilled at both rallying team members around shared goals and developing new content for ICI MUSIQUE. You will build the necessary partnerships to amplify our content in the digital space and develop creative strategies to help audiences discover homegrown artists while sharing your passion for music with the world.

We are looking for someone with a long-term vision who can anticipate changing audience needs, think outside the box and consistently explore new ways to create distinctive content. Good knowledge of ICI MUSIQUE programming is also a must.

Key tasks:

  1. Conceive and develop ideas and concepts for programming and remote broadcasts in line with ICI MUSIQUE's mandate as well as CBC/Radio-Canada's program policies and Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  2. Plan and organize a program and/or program segment, creating and supervising musical programming that aligns with the show's mandate.
  3. Handle varying production cycles and oversight needs for all broadcast types (daily, weekly, musical), spanning both live and taped content.
  4. Participate in the preparation of program objectives.
  5. Supervise a team and provide ongoing co-ordination of production staff (on-air hosts, researchers, etc.).
  6. Determine the style, pace, tempo, lineup and format of content best suited to the program.
  7. Help plan the financial and operational resources required for production.
  8. Evaluate all facets of a production, including the level of support provided to program personnel and freelance contributors.
  9. Take the show to air (including editing).

Your qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University degree or equivalent in communications, journalism or another relevant field.
  • Three to five years' experience in radio production or another relevant field.
  • Excellent understanding of the broadcasting industry, markets and listener behaviour.
  • Solid command of French.
  • Excellent general knowledge.
  • Creative and innovative approach.
  • Ability to lead, engage and inspire teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, and a proven track record of managing change within teams.
  • Ability to make decisions rapidly.
  • Ability to handle stress and work well under pressure.
  • Expertise in the technical knowledge required to take a show to air.
  • Ability to generate original story ideas and understand news stories.
  • Knowledge of radio programming and program production.
  • Knowledge of Radio-Canada programming.
  • Strong knowledge of digital platforms and content.
  • Knowledge of corporate policies an asset.
