CBC Calgary is looking for a Producer to lead our provincial daily open line show Alberta at Noon. Alberta at Noon is the only provincial call-in program and plays a key role in ensuring that a diversity of Albertans' voices are heard in CBC programming. The program is the place for informed conversation on topics that are both in the news and in the zeitgeist.
Based in Calgary and reporting to the Executive Producer of Programming and working closely with the host of the program, you will oversee the daily production of Alberta at Noon, including formulating a daily call-in question, booking guests, writing background and question-lines. You will collaborate with colleagues in news and current affairs in Calgary and Edmonton, as well as in our bureaus to ensure the program is covering issues that are important and relevant to Albertans.
We are looking for a dynamic journalist with a broad understanding of the news landscape of the province and has a knack for understanding how to get the audience talking. You will need exceptional critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
In this role, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate, and resonate with the communities we serve. As the industry shifts, local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You understand the diverse and changing population in Alberta and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content.
