The team at CBC Toronto produces daily local news coverage for people who live and work in the Greater Toronto Area. As part of this role, you will oversee the conception, assignment, and distribution of breaking, investigative, explanatory, and current affairs journalism in all formats–video, audio, and text–on digital and broadcast platforms.

You will guide programming decisions around breaking news events. You have an in-depth understanding of CBC's Journalistic Standards and Practices and are responsible for ensuring your team functions within these guidelines. You can make quick decisions when required but you're also a creative thinker with a track record of finding solutions to complex problems.
You provide direction on all news output, leading daily storytelling and driving major content projects that anticipate the needs of the audience. Your understanding of the region's cultural communities informs your journalistic decision making. You are a keen observer, focused on reaching new and younger audiences and people in underserved communities.
You thrive on change and are able to motivate people and get them excited to work in a rapidly evolving news environment.
