Job Summary:
As a Supply Chain Project Engineer within Caterpillar's Integrated Components Division (ICD) supporting the Resource Industries (RI) segment, you will play a critical role in driving supply chain and operational excellence across complex, global value streams. This position focuses on leading cross-functional initiatives that enhance supply chain performance, operational efficiency, and stakeholder alignment.
You will be responsible for designing and executing supply chain & operations strategies that support manufacturing operations, ensuring continuity, scalability, and compliance. The role requires a strong foundation in both supply chain and operations, with the ability to lead external project initiatives, communicate effectively across teams, and translate technical outputs into actionable insights for stakeholders.
What You Will Do:
- Design and implement integrated supply chain & operations solutions by collaborating with internal teams and external partners to identify performance gaps and drive operational improvements.
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships with component facilities, suppliers, internal stakeholders, and customers to promote alignment and adopt supply chain & operations best practices.
- Analyze operational data and supply chain metrics to uncover cost-saving opportunities & improve operational performance.
- Provide support to the monthly Global Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process within ICD Manufacturing.
Education Requirement:
Candidates should possess a degree or demonstrate equivalent knowledge through professional expertise.
What Skills You Will Have:
Supply Chain Management:
- Lead cross-functional teams to implement supply chain and operational improvements in dynamic environments.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience not only in supply chain management but also in operational execution within manufacturing or logistics settings.
- Collaborate with value chain partners, dealers, and manufacturing teams to align supply chain design with operational conformance expectations.
- Identify and mitigate risks across the supply chain and operations to ensure business continuity.
- Familiarity with ERP systems to manage inventory, forecast demand, streamline procurement, and support operational workflows.
- Participate in supply chain network design/redesign projects with a focus on operational feasibility and scalability.
- Oversee supply chain finance activities and measure effectiveness across both supply and operational functions.
- Drive external project initiatives that enhance supply chain and operational performance, innovation, and agility.
- Demonstrate strong project management skills within the Supply Chain & Operations environment.
- Demonstrate Supply Chain Planning skills through detailed PFEP implementations
Planning: Tactical, Strategic:
- Develop tactical supply chain and operational plans aligned with production schedules and strategic business goals.
- Conduct scenario planning and capacity analysis to support new product introductions and operational readiness.
- Facilitate project meetings / stakeholder updates for supply chain and operational projects.
- Create planning dashboards and reports for cross-functional visibility and decision-making.
Standard Operating Procedures:
- Author and maintain SOPs for procurement, logistics, inventory control, and operational processes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to update SOPs based on operational feedback and evolving business needs.
- Train teams on SOP compliance to ensure consistent execution across departments.
- Audit procedures to ensure alignment with internal standards and external regulations.
- Review and adjust SOPs based on workflow and environmental assessments to improve performance and efficiency.
Effectiveness Measurement:
- Develop and track short- and long-term improvement goals using assigned metrics across supply chain and operations.
- Report and interpret measurement results against benchmarks to provide actionable insights to management.
- Create action plans to achieve functional performance targets and share outcomes with broader stakeholder groups.
- Support the team in effectively communicating the output of their work to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
Conflict Management:
- Mediate and resolve conflicts among individuals, groups, and departments with a focus on constructive collaboration.
- Guide participants in rethinking perspectives and converting difficult interactions into productive outcomes.
- Surface disagreements early and apply sound judgment in involving third parties when necessary.
- Promote a culture of open communication and shared accountability across supply chain and operations teams.
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Peoria, IL office. Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate. Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position. This position may require up to 25% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
