Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be expected to lead the ME Team by providing technical guidance and stewardship, and assist the ME Manager with assigning team priorities, goal setting, operational capital planning, ECR management, and key performance metric tracking for the ME department.

What you will do:

  • Engages in creative problem solving to address operational issues including: ergonomic/ safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, quality concerns
  • Works with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products
  • Coordinates, plans, monitors and reports the activities associated with the flow analysis, design, financial modeling and implementation of complex manufacturing group technology cells in an assigned area
  • Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties
  • Provides manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification
  • Ensure production processes are designed and capable of meeting current and future plans
  • Develops, analyzes and manages Manufacturing/ Assembly Projects. Assists in developing department capital and expense budgets
  • Identify business risk due to equipment obsolescence
  • Work action items coming from Customer and operations quality or improvement CAR's
  • Review, create, and sustain standard work and operations SFMEA for improvements
  • Review premature tooling report, production reports and other business metrics to identify improvement activities

What you will have:

Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention. Experience with CNC Machine Brands including GROB, Heller, Jtekt/Toyoda preferred.

Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Summary pay range: $97,530.00 - $146,290.00
