Job Summary

L5 Power System Simulation team of the Integrated Components & Solutions division is seeking a simulation candidate to support product and Virtual Product Development (VPD) technology development. Primary job responsibilities may include applications of power system simulations to influence early product concepts and design decisions, to improve the existing products by resolving performance issues and to develop or improve simulation related processes and technologies.

What You Will Do:

  • Integrate controls and plant models of components and subsystems (e.g., genset, motor, power converter, utility grid, energy storage, PV, wind turbine) into comprehensive power system models using MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape.
  • Execute performance simulations to support early product concept development, influence control software design, and resolve performance issues in existing products.
  • Analyze simulation results to assess system performance and reliability, and validate findings against measured test data.
  • Apply Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) methodologies in daily workflows.
  • Develop scripts in MATLAB or Python to automate simulation and analysis tasks.
  • Collaborate on power system architecture design, including hardware selection and control algorithm optimization.
  • Interface with Git-based software libraries to support model integration and version control.
  • Contribute to process improvements and the development of simulation technologies.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams including engineering, management, marketing, and suppliers.
  • Support the design and evaluation of new products and processes through needs analysis and innovation.

What You Will Have:

  • Power Systems Expertise: Strong foundation in electrical power systems engineering and electrical systems design.
  • Simulation & Modeling: Proven experience modeling and analyzing microgrid or EV systems using MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret simulation data, identify performance trends, and recommend design improvements.
  • Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for automating tasks and enhancing simulation workflows.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong initiative, teamwork, and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to self-development and staying current with evolving technologies and tools.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

  • MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power system simulation.
  • Experience in microgrid or EV system design and controls, power electronics, motor control, and grid interaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize control strategies and integrate complex subsystems in simulation environments.

Additional Information:

  • This role requires up to 15% travel.

Summary Pay Range: $95,640.00 - $143,520.00
