Role Definition: Caterpillar has an opportunity for a Paint Engineer. In this role, you will act as a specialist regarding a specific technical phase of the planning function, which generally falls within the main areas of planning, tooling, maintenance, etc.; wherever a specific technical task is required, your involvement may be necessary.

Assist and manage technical services by performing technical analyses of painting and pretreatment processes to enable effective decision-making that leads to successfully implemented solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assigned personnel who, independently or as part of a team, are involved in manufacturing and improving processes and systems used in product machining.
  • This is a fully functional travel-level position for an incumbent with varied experience in painting, who may receive assistance from a more experienced senior-level person.
  • Troubleshoots daily process issues, initiates solutions, and follows up to evaluate the effectiveness of changes to ensure practical cleaning, salvage, machining, manufacturing, and movement of production material within the component group.
  • Designs or directs the acquisition, design, manufacture, and repair of all necessary tools and machines.
  • Determines contacts and negotiates with external suppliers for machines, tools, parts, and contracted labor.
  • Analyzes engineering change notices, determines any part or process changes, initiates and implements all changes.
  • Assumes daily training tasks in the absence of the team leader.
  • Analyzes and recommends current and future systems, procedures, training, and equipment needs based on understanding and communication with users.
  • Determines the acceptability of new equipment based on usage requirements and recommends modifications or revisions as needed.
  • Provides analysis and recommendations necessary to enable manufacturing to produce engineering product designs.
  • Provides effective communication and services to resolve production issues or seek operational improvements. Simulates current and future machine lines and cells to predict line flow problems and makes recommendations for implementation. Conducts research to help resolve technical issues.
  • Adheres to established standards, policies, and practices related to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc., in performing assigned duties.

Degree Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Intermediate English.

Manufacturing Safety:

  • Consults on safety tools and techniques, conducts OSHA-compliant inspections, designs emergency procedures, promotes safety awareness, identifies hazards, and ensures compliance with all safety regulations.

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies:

  • Collaborates on developing and implementing cross-functional standards, organizational policies, and architectural principles; establishes monitoring mechanisms, ensures effective communication, and drives adherence across functions.

Additional Information:

  • Located in Cienega de Flores, Nuevo León.
  • Domestic relocation is not available.
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday (6:24 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.).
