The Manufacturing Technology & Solutions organization aims to drive manufacturing excellence across the enterprise. This is an opportunity to join the MT&S team as an Engineering Manager for the Machining Technologies Team. The Machining Technologies team serves as the enterprise-wide technical resource for advancing technology in the machining space, as well as providing our facility partners with crucial problem-solving expertise.
Responsibilities
- Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for engineering teams; motivating and developing project and team leaders.
- Driving machining technology innovation and quality improvements to provide process and technology leadership.
- Managing the engineering staff and activities with an emphasis on organizational goals aligned to strategic planning. These activities will include budgeting, forecasting, and governance for manufacturing projects.
- Collaborating across global teams, vendors, and academic partners.
- Providing specialized engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization.
What You Will Have
- Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
- Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
- Collaborating Globally: Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.
- Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Top Candidates Will Have
- Advanced degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
- Experience with research and development projects.
- Ability to lead teams of 10+ people that are geographically dispersed
Additional Details
- This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville Technical Center Building K office in Chillicothe, IL.
- Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

- This position will require up to 30% travel
Summary Pay Range: $144,960.00 - $217,320.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
