Mission: The Building Construction Products Division (BCP) Electrical & Electronics Engineering team are committed to deliver competitive, reliable, cost effective, electrical system designs to BCP products groups per the machine development programs timetables. As more electronic features are adopted into construction equipment, this team is challenged to provide results in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

Purpose: In this role, you will be responsible for delivering electronics component solutions to our customers. You will work with teams within BCP and across Caterpillar to gather requirements for component selection, validation, and testing. These solutions will be evaluated on the criteria of both meeting customer requirements as well as creating an optimized solution that best meet Caterpillar business objectives.

Description:

  • Designing and developing new electronic control components for construction equipment
  • Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components.
  • Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to electronic components.
  • Managing and negotiating with electrical and electronic equipment suppliers for the development of systems and components.
  • Collaborating with enterprise partners to optimize the solution for the business needs
  • Ensuring designs progress per machine development times lines.
  • Mentor Junior engineers in the team.

What you have:

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Electronics Engineering - HTH: Knowledge of electronics engineering; ability to design, test and manufacture electronic circuits, components and devices.
  • Product Design - HTH: Knowledge of and the ability to utilize design tools (e.g. CAD) to convert customer and market requirements into a product design.
  • Reliability Management - HTH: Knowledge of reliability management; ability to utilize various tools, techniques, methodologies and metrics to meet and manage hardware product performance and reliability objectives.
  • Mechanical Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of mechanical engineering processes, techniques and methods; ability to design and implement machines and other mechanical devices that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
  • Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

Basic Qualifications / Experience:

  • Experience with PCBA layout and design
  • Experience with machine sensors and controls including electro-hydraulic
  • Experience with Electronic Component EMC
  • Experience with mobile equipment electronic systems
  • Ability to read electrical systems diagrams
  • Experience with CREO CAD Software
  • Experience managing development projects including timelines and action list

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Fundamental understanding of mobile machine operation, ideally construction equipment and operations
  • Experience in validation and testing of electronic components.
  • Strong communication skills, good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to identify needed actions and act to resolve issues with minimal oversight
  • Experience with managing end to end projects.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage supplier relationships.

Additional Information

  • Location – Athens, GA
  • Relocation is available with this position
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Travel: Upto 10% domestic and international.
  • This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
