We are seeking an ATS Sales Support Engineer to support Caterpillar's dealer network by serving as the primary interface between dealers, supply plants, and internal teams. This role plays a key part in managing the commercial and operational flow of Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) orders, ensuring accurate processing, timely shipments, and effective resolution of product and pricing issues. The ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator with strong commercial acumen and a passion for delivering exceptional service to Cat Dealers.

What You Will Do:

  • Act as the main point of contact for dealers and customers regarding orders, shipments, and product inquiries
  • Strengthen dealer relationships through proactive communication and problem-solving
  • Collaborate with outside sales on lead management and customer support
  • Manage the full PO cycle: quote preparation, PO release, plant/material assignment, and shipment tracking
  • Confirm ship dates with supply plants and communicate updates to dealers
  • Ensure accuracy in dealer invoicing, warranty details, and shipment documentation
  • Maintain and update internal ERP systems with order and inventory data
  • Generate credit memos based on RMAs and manage ATS stock inventory
  • Prepare commercial documentation for international shipments
  • Work closely with inside sales, supply plants, and product line managers to ensure smooth operations
  • Support reporting needs and assist in training dealer personnel on order and tracking tools
  • Perform any other duties assigned by upper leadership

What You Will Have:

  • Customer Focus: Basic understanding and knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Working knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Basic understanding and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Basic understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Relationship Management: Basic understanding and knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong commercial aptitude and customer service orientation
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Experience collaborating across functions and managing multiple priorities
  • Comfortable managing a high volume of orders in a fast-paced environment
  • Quick learner of ERP systems
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum of 3–5 years of equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • What Will Put You Ahead:

    • Prior experience in dealer operations, commercial insurance, or technical customer service
    • Background in inside sales or distributor support roles
    • Strong attention to detail in PO tracking, warranty data, and shipment coordination
    • Familiarity with parts, commercial processes, or dealer/distributor environments
    • Experience preparing commercial documentation and certificates of origin for international shipments

    Additional Information:

    • This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
    • Travel is not required for this position
    • Relocation is NOT available for this position

    Summary Pay Range: $71,040.00 - $106,440.00

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
