Sales Consultant

The primary purpose of the Sales Consultant is to sell, merchandise, and service accounts in the assigned route, while maintaining the quality of our products.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Represent company in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
  • Maintain company standards in all accounts.
  • Formulate a plan to achieve distribution of all targeted brands.
  • Maintain inventory levels, proper ordering, and shelf space to eliminate out-of-stocks.
  • Organize and set accounts with proper SKU management.
  • Maintain competitive cooler space, equal to or above your share of the market. Strive to have 1st position in the cooler door.
  • Display and maintain current POS equal to or greater than competitive POS.
  • Work with Store manager to request and obtain excellent display space locations.
  • Construct and maintain as many eye-catching and well-merchandised displays as possible in each account.
  • Achieve 100% execution on weekly ad features and monthly display programs.
  • Check in product with managers or other personnel, following store policy when necessary.
  • Ensure product prices are equal to or less than competitors prices.
  • Ensure shelf tags and price stickers are present and correct for each product on the shelf.
  • Plan ahead for buy-ins and promotions.
  • Responsible for adhering to Overage Beer Policy by keeping product properly rotated.
  • Use product transfer forms to ensure proper movement of product.
  • Maintain route book and/or IPad.
  • Transmit customer orders and instructions utilizing order system accurately and within daily timeframes.
  • Maintain a friendly, working relationship with the Manager on each account. Effectively communicate to the Store Manager and Sales consultant about new products, price promotions and opportunities.
  • Listens to and resolves service complaints.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sales figures for your accounts and for certain chains you may service.
  • Compiles list of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, and other sources.
  • Maintain safe driving record and comply with company driving points policy.
  • Adhere to safety standards and policies at all times.
  • Submit daily and weekly activity/call reports concerning customer-related activities for orders, requests, displays, and other business transactions.
  • Submit display execution through appropriate tracking system.
  • Maintain proper SKU in assigned accounts balancing customer needs and company objectives.
  • Ensure POS is current and in good working order.
  • Where appropriate, inspect all draft lines, faucets, and couplers and ensure line cleaning sticker in account is current.
  • Communicates with Area Sales Manager and/or Area Delivery Manager/ Delivery Driver to resolve customer problems, opportunities, competitive activity in your market, and potential overage situations.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and company functions as required.
  • Adhere to dress code at all times.
  • Obey all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or experience:

Broad training in a recognized trade. Equivalent to complete, accredited apprenticeship or equivalent to high school education plus a two-year technical education. One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.

Mental/visual/auditory demand:

Frequent mental and visual attention; usually repetitive work or diversified operations requiring constant alertness and activity. Ability to make decisions on space and SKU management, display size & location, and merchandising opportunities.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • Clean driving record (MVR) or within company driving points policy
  • ABC Beer permit

Language skills:

Requires the ability to read, write, complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical skills:

Requires the ability to perform arithmetic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division including decimals and fractions. Understanding of basic Trade Math principles such as margin, mark-up, revenue, profit, and unit cost. Could require simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules or diagrams.
