Senior Network Operations Engineer
Carnegie Mellon University's department of Computing Services is searching for a Senior Network Operations Engineer. This is a dynamic opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing essential support by deploying, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring of LAN and WAN networks.
Core Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure the security and reliability of network infrastructure.
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate network performance, diagnose issues, and define user and system requirements.
- Deploy, configure, manage, and monitor Wireless, LAN, and WAN environments, including routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, 802.11 wireless LANs, TCP/IP, Ethernet, SNMP, and VPN technologies.
- Maintain accurate and current network documentation.
- Provide tier 3 support for complex network issues, performing advanced troubleshooting and implementing effective solutions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
You Should Demonstrate:
- Problem-solving and reasoning skills
- Organization, planning and project management skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in Network Administration, Network Deployment and Support, and/or Network Security Administration.
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification preferred.
- Advanced experience and/or certification with Cisco Systems and/or Aruba Networks wireless infrastructure deployments desired; experience with other wireless vendors also valued.
- Experience with cloud connectivity, service deployment, and operations.
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
