Software Engineer
CaptivateIQ is the leading Sales Performance Management platform, helping enterprises design, manage, and optimize their incentive compensation programs. Backed by Sequoia, Accel, and Y Combinator, we're expanding from commission management into sales planning and enterprise performance management—all domains ripe for AI innovation.
CaptivaIQ is building AI capabilities that will transform how enterprises manage sales performance. We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our Agentic SDK team, an internal developer platform that enables product teams across the company to build AI-powered features.
This is a foundational role on a small, high-impact team. You'll work across the full stack, from React/TypeScript frontends to Python backends, while integrating LLM orchestration and MCP (Model Context Protocol) systems. You'll ship features end-to-end, partnering closely with product teams to deliver AI capabilities that directly impact our customers.
As one of five engineers pioneering AI at CaptivateIQ, you'll have outsized ownership and influence. You'll tackle ambiguous problems, contribute to architectural decisions, and help establish the patterns that future teams will follow. This is a greenfield opportunity to shape how AI gets built at a growing enterprise software company.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI-powered features end-to-end, from React frontends through Python services to LLM integrations
- Build and maintain components of our Agentic SDK, enabling other engineering teams to leverage AI capabilities
- Develop LLM orchestration workflows, including prompt engineering, tool calling, and agent design patterns
- Implement MCP integrations and knowledge systems, connecting LLMs to tools, databases, and external services
- Partner with product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions, delivering quarterly milestones on time with high quality
- Contribute to technical design discussions and code reviews, helping establish best practices for AI development
- Participate in team culture and hiring, including conducting interviews for engineering candidates
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated growth in scope and complexity
- Strong proficiency in Python with experience building production backend services (Django experience preferred)
- Solid frontend development skills with React and TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and understanding of prompt engineering fundamentals
- Experience building LLM-powered workflows, including agent orchestration, tool calling, or multi-step reasoning systems
- Experience working with ambiguous requirements and independently identifying solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment
- Track record of delivering projects on time with high quality
- Demonstrated curiosity and continuous learning in the rapidly evolving AI/LLM space
Bonus Points
- Experience with MCP servers, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma), or embedding models
- Familiarity with LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent)
- Experience building internal developer platforms, SDKs, or shared infrastructure
- Contributions to AI/ML open-source projects
- Experience at a B2B SaaS company, particularly in enterprise software
- Familiarity with sales, commissions, or financial software domains
