Sales Manager

Capitol Aluminum & Glass Corporation is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to lead and manage our consultative sales efforts in the aluminum windows and doors market. This role focuses on strengthening sales performance, enforcing structure within the sales process, and driving measurable growth in the commercial and institutional market. We are looking to add a company-minded leader to our team who values accountability, clear reporting, and continuous improvement — someone who can elevate both people and process.

The Sales Manager will oversee all sales representatives, manage pipeline activity, and work closely with other departments to ensure projects move efficiently from opportunity through completion. This role requires a hands-on leader that's willing to learn our products and processes in detail and comfortable working in a fast-moving, family-owned business environment.

This is a leadership role with travel required throughout the State of Ohio/surrounding states as needed to support the sales team, customers, project meetings, and job site coordination. This position works closely with architects, general contractors, glazing contractors, facility managers, and institutional owners to position Capitol's aluminum window, door, and storefront solutions as the preferred choice for performance, durability, and long-term value.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team, ensuring consistent performance, accountability, and growth to align the team with company goals.
  • Build and execute sales plan strategies for institutional and commercial clients including schools, universities, healthcare systems, government facilities, and commercial owners.
  • Conduct consultative discovery to understand project requirements such as thermal performance, structural integrity, security needs, acoustics, and architectural design intent.
  • Strengthen relationships with architects, specifiers, engineers, and contractors to influence design decisions and secure Capitol Aluminum products in project specifications.
  • Support your team in presenting tailored aluminum window, door, and storefront solutions that meet energy codes, safety standards, and budget expectations.
  • Oversee the full sales cycle, including bids, proposals, and negotiations.
  • Collaborate with estimating, engineering, production, and installation teams to ensure accurate takeoffs, specifications, and seamless project execution.
  • Monitor pipeline activity, forecast revenue, and sales performance to provide consistent reporting to executive leadership and Board of Directors.
  • Ensure adherence to company sales processes, documentation, and reporting standards.
  • Identify market opportunities and contribute to marketing and growth initiatives.
  • Represent Capitol Aluminum at industry events, trade shows, and project meetings.

Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial construction sales or architectural building products preferred (windows, doors, storefront, glazing, or related systems)
  • Understanding of the commercial construction process preferred
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to navigate multi-stakeholder construction environments
  • Proven leadership experience with ability to hold team members accountable
  • Ability to collaborate closely with executive leadership and communicate effectively across departments
  • Solid understanding of the construction process, from design and specification through installation
  • Willingness to learn company products, processes, and project workflow in detail
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, performance requirements, and technical specifications
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and data-driven sales management
