That's why our team is looking to add a Travel Safety Principal, Security Services.

The Travel Safety Principal supports the global travel safety and security program by monitoring global events, assessing travel risks, and assisting with traveler support and emergency response. This role reports directly to the Travel Safety Manager and is critical to ensuring the safety and security of all employees while they are traveling for business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Global Monitoring & Intelligence: Monitor geopolitical, environmental, health, and security events globally 24/7 that may impact company travelers.
  • Provide timely and accurate travel advisories and alerts to travelers and management, escalating urgent issues to the Travel Safety Manager or Global Intelligence and Travel Safety Senior Manager immediately.
  • Utilize travel tracking software and intelligence feeds to maintain real-time situational awareness.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct pre-trip risk assessments for travel to high-risk or complex locations, identifying specific threats and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Review and approve travel requests based on established safety protocols and risk criteria.
  • Support the development and maintenance of country and city-specific safety profiles and country risk ratings.
  • Traveler Support & Response: Serve as a point of contact for travelers experiencing safety or security incidents, including but not limited to medical emergencies, natural disasters, political unrest, or lost/stolen documents.
  • Coordinate immediate response efforts, including traveler check-ins, activation of emergency response providers, and coordination with local resources.
  • Manage and track incidents through to resolution, ensuring comprehensive incident response documentation.
  • Program Support & Documentation: Assist the Travel Safety Manager in drafting, updating, and communicating travel safety policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of all travel alerts, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Coordinate logistics for specialized safety and security services (e.g., executive protection, secure ground transportation) as directed.
  • Training & Awareness: Support the delivery of pre-travel safety and security briefings or training materials for employees.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in corporate security, travel risk management or intelligence analysis
  • At least 2 years experience with travel tracking and global security intelligence platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Security Studies, Emergency Management, Business Continuity, or a related field
  • Professional certification (CPP, PSP, CTM, or a related safety or security certification)
  • At least 1 year experience with incident management protocols and procedures
  • Fluency in a second language relevant to Capital One's primary travel destinations (Spanish, Hindi, Tagalog)
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
