Coordinator for Career Services

The Coordinator for Career Services provides innovative and strategic leadership, collaborative program development, and administration of career services. Career Services is student-focused and centralizes the functions of full-time employment, on-campus student employment, internships, part-time employment, post-graduation employment, alumni mentorship programming, and career & calling counseling. The Coordinator will support student success by collaborating across the division of Student Life, and advancing the division's values, goals, the university's mission and strategic plan. All responsibilities are carried out through the lens of Campbell's Hallmarks of Character, Initiative, and Calling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the work of the Campbell Hallmarks through career, calling, and vocational discernment;
  • Develop and manage a Campbell University mentorship program designed to strengthen connections between our alumni and current students.
  • Oversee the management and promotion of Campbell University's Career Closet;
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and integrating best practices for career services;
  • Benchmark career services against peer and aspirant institutions;
  • Introduce creative approaches and solutions to the design and delivery of programs and services across campus;
  • Oversee administration of the CUHired system powered by Symplicity and maintain the Career Services webpage and career services social media accounts;
  • Facilitate and design opportunities that support students' development of career readiness skills;
  • Actively participate in ongoing professional development and collaborations across staff and functional responsibilities;
  • Design and delivery of graduation survey;
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of employer relation efforts and provide feedback as to the effectiveness of such efforts.

Career Coaching:

  • Provide individual career guidance and counseling to students and recent alumni, including internship and post-graduate employment search, mock interviews, review resumes and personal statements;
  • Facilitate skills-based workshops and trainings grounded in NACE Competencies;
  • Co-develop and execute programs and events with other career service units throughout campus to connect students with the broader community including employers, alumni, and families.

Employer Engagement:

  • Create and implement employer outreach strategies to strengthen the on-campus recruitment program; initiate employer and alumni outreach for job/internship leads;
  • Facilitate relationships between employers and the university community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni association, advancement, etc.;
  • Manage on-campus recruitment visits and recruitment-related programming including information sessions, coffee chats, and workshops; identify and coordinate faculty partnerships;
  • Work with employers to develop marketing strategies for enhancement of employer presence on campus;
  • Discuss student feedback with employers and notify director of problematic employer activities/behavior and significant trends.

Education/Experience:

  • Master's degree, preferably in higher education, student affairs, counseling, human resources or a closely related field;
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in Career Services or similar experience in career development in a business environment required; 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a college or university career center desired;
  • Minimum 2 years' full-time experience building relationships both internal and external stakeholders to the campus;
  • Experience and proven ability to develop long-range planning and budget administration;
  • Experience with student success, enrollment and issues of retention desired;
  • Experience working with student employment, financial aid, and academic departments, and advancement offices desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of career development and student development;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations;
  • Proficient computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite, and Symplicity or other CSM systems
  • Ability to use both data and judgment in decision making;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision-making;
  • Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents and meet set deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public;
  • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations;
  • Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment;
  • This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
