Aquatic Center Lifeguard

Responsible for the overall safety of patrons, general maintenance, and cleaning of facility.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implements appropriate rescue, first aid and emergency procedures.
  • Cleans pool, bathhouse, and related areas daily.
  • Collects entry fees.
  • Enforces all rules and regulations as they relate to pool safety.

Other Job Duties:

  • Attends weekly training sessions.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned which relate to the operation of a public swimming pool.
  • Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Proper lifeguarding procedures.

Ability to:

  • Deal effectively with the public.
  • Follow instructions; perform general cleaning.

Required Qualifications:

Training and/or Education: None

Experience: None

Licenses or Certificates: Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid & CPR/AED Certificate.

Special Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or have work permit.

Subject to background investigation.

Physical Demands:

Work requires medium to heavy physical effort.

Unusual Demands:

Flexible schedule to include: early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

FLSA Status:

Nonexempt

Compensation Steps:

Pay rate: $18.49 per hour

Grade H06, Hourly position
