Staff-level Test Engineer

Calix is seeking a talented and passionate Staff-level Test Engineer to join the software test engineering team. The position is part of a functional test team that is providing software/hardware testing and quality assurance on an industry disrupting ecosystem comprised of cloud, embedded systems, and network access products. This position will primarily be focused on the functional and integration testing to achieve complete network solution in a multitude of test environments which include the last mile of the telecommunications network.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Product Development, Engineering, and Sales teams to understand testing requirements and provide feedback on architecture and design and test efforts.
• Participate in the development of the test strategy and create test cases to validate assigned feature and overall solution.
• Evaluate hardware and software features by test planning, test execution and continuous automation of Functional/Integration/Solution test cases.
• Support existing automated scripts
• Reproduce field issues and validate their resolution.
• Use traffic generators for video, data and voice related testing. Perform and analyze data packet captures. Perform hands-on troubleshooting and debugging of issues. Clearly describe system-faults in issue tracking products.
• Collaborate closely with Cross-functional Teams - local and remote test engineers, Development Engineers at all Calix sites, PLLs, Customer Support, and TAC.

Experience and Qualification:

• 10+ years of experience in Networking and Telecommunication test area.
• 5+ years of experience in testing one or more of following areas: PON Technologies (GPON/NGPON/XGSPON), Protocols (RSTP,BGP/OSPF/ISIS/BFD), VPN Services (L2VPN, L3VPN), Subscriber management
• 5+ years of experience in developing automation using any one of the script languages : Python, Robot framework, PyTest
• Good hands on experience with packet capture tools like – Wireshark, TCPDUMP, iperf.
• Experience with various open-source tools for traffic, subscriber simulation, routing
• Good experience with Virtualization and work with virtual nodes/docker environment.
• Hands on with Voice, Video, Data services configuration and validation
• End to end test experience and knowledge of various testing methodologies
• BSCE, BSEE or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good oral and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.

Location: India – (Flexible hybrid work model - work from Bangalore office for 20 days in a quarter)
