We are seeking passionate and skilled Senior Software Developers to join our Core AI Services team. In this role, you will design, develop, and scale secure, reliable, and cloud-native platform services and public APIs that enable AI adoption across a broad product portfolio and partner ecosystem. You will be part of a high-performing Scrum team focused on building innovative, standards-compliant, and production-grade AI capabilities. With a builder mindset, you'll engage in rapid prototyping and continuous improvement, operating with the agility of a start-up.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure.
• Develop secure, well-documented public APIs and SDKs for internal and external consumption.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions across data pipelines, orchestration, and service APIs.
• Integrate robust security controls to safeguard sensitive data and ensure secure access to AI services.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions to uphold engineering excellence.
• Mentor junior developers and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
• Work across teams to support AI model deployment, training workflows, and AI tooling development.

AI & Cloud Expertise:

• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and understanding of performance, cost, and capability trade-offs.
• Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and tool calling.
• Knowledge of AI standards such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A).
• Strong foundation in ML algorithms including regression, classification, clustering, and deep learning.
• Awareness of AI ethics and regulations (e.g., NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act) and commitment to responsible AI development.
• Proficiency in using AI tools like GitHub Copilot and applying prompt engineering for development tasks.
• Experience with AI orchestration tools such as AI Foundry and/or Semantic Kernel.
• Familiarity with automated testing and evaluation tools for AI outputs.
• Strong coding skills in Python and experience with frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.

Core Skills & Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on platform or cloud-native service development.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and PaaS services (e.g., Azure Functions, AKS, API Management).
• Strong proficiency in RESTful API design, versioning, testing, and lifecycle management.
• Experience securing APIs and managing authentication, authorization, and data privacy.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to propose scalable solutions to complex challenges.
• Proven experience working in Agile teams and collaborating across global R&D locations.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior developers.
• Solid experience with AI frameworks, tools, and Python development.

Compensation: $100,000 to $130,000 +/- and this position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans. Application will be accepted by 10/03/2025.
