Sediment Remediation Modeler

CDM Smith's Environmental Services Group is seeking an Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist with modeling experience related to sediment remediation projects located anywhere within the United States. The candidate must have demonstrated expertise working independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team on sediment remediation projects for a variety of clients including those in the Federal and Public sector. Roles and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following regarding sediment remediation projects:

  • Understanding the scientific and engineering principles of modeling surface water hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and contaminant fate and transport in coastal, estuarine, riverine, and/or lacustrine settings.
  • Experience with the development of field sampling programs and subsequent data analyses to support the development of conceptual site models, mass balances, and data-based understanding of fate and transport processes.
  • Experience with numerical and desktop model development, calibration, application, and peer review.
  • Experience evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and assisting in the development of sediment remediation designs for large contaminated sediment sites involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Serve as CDM Smith’s primary modeling interface with clients on complicated sediments sites; this includes having the ability to assess and understand a problem and develop and communicate a technical strategy to the client.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree. 5 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).

Skills and Abilities: Solid knowledge of corporate governance practices, organization design principles, accounting principles, finance, supply chain management, and organization management. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to understand complex technical, professional, and business materials.

Pay Range Minimum: $81,765

Pay Range Maximum: $134,909

Additional Compensation: All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.

Work Location Options: Hybrid Work Options may be considered for successful candidates.
