What you'll do...

  • Assist with vehicle-level testing (e.g., powertrain performance, range, efficiency, towing, etc.)
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams (e.g., homologation, calibration, powertrain, aerodynamics, chassis, thermal) on testing efforts.
  • Contribute to improving testing methodologies and measurement techniques.
  • Assist with chassis dynamometer lab equipment commissioning, maintenance, and calibration.
  • Plan, execute, and document full vehicle validation testing in various locations (must be willing to travel).
  • Support validation of vehicle software and hardware changes related to energy management, range, and performance attributes.

You'll have...

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Aerodynamics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding or strong interest in dynamometer or aerodynamic testing.
  • First-principles approach to engineering problem solving.
  • Understanding of instrumentation sensor characteristics.
  • Basic proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar data analysis tools.

Even better, you may have...

  • Involvement with SAE Formula, Baja, or similar collegiate design teams.
  • Familiarity with powertrain/dynamics controls strategies.
  • Experience working in a lab environment (academic, R&D, or personal projects).
  • Familiarity with SAE test procedures and 40 CFR Part 1066 regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with various instrumentation sensors (e.g., power, temperature, pressure)
  • Exposure to dynamometers, load cells, and DAQ/CAN systems (e.g., Intrepid, DEWESoft, Vector).
